Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will clash with Mumbai Indians (MI) in Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Wednesday, May 24 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. Mumbai fared well in the league stage and was fourth on the IPL 2023 points table with eight wins in 14 games.

In their previous game, Mumbai thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets riding on a blistering century by Cameron Green and booked a ticket to the knockout stage. Rohit Sharma & Co. would look to put up a strong showing in the high-voltage clash against Lucknow and progress to Qualifier 2.

Here’s Mumbai Indians’ predicted XI against Lucknow Super Giants

Openers: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk)

Rohit Sharma is one of those players who have made heads turn every time he has stepped into the cricket field. The ace batter has put up an exhibition of his swashbuckling stroke play and took top quality to the cleaners. Also, he has been a brilliant reader of the game and has led Mumbai Indians to five title victories.

Rohit showed his class in the encounter against the Hyderabad franchise and notched up 56 off 37. The team management would hope the elegant batter plays in the same vein in the forthcoming game against Krunal Pandya & Co.

Talking about Rohit’s opening partner Ishan Kishan, the southpaw has obliterated bowlers with his marauding bat and provided Mumbai with crackling starts. In IPL 2023, the wicketkeeper-batter has plundered 439 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 143.46. He would look to put up a show with the bat in the clash on Wednesday.

Middle-Order: Suryakumar Yadav, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David

Suryakumar Yadav is one of the finest batters in the T20 circuit at the moment. He has destroyed bowling attacks with his 360-degree stroke play and amassed heaps of runs in the IPL arena. The ace batter has hammered 511 runs in 14 matches at a stunning strike rate of 185.14.

Coming to Nehal Wadhera, he has hammered opposition bowlers all across the park and shown his batting might time and again. The 22-year-old has featured in 12 matches for the Mumbai franchise and aggregated 214 runs at a strike rate of 141.72.

Talking about Tim David, the ace batter has decimated bowling attacks with his power-hitting might and finished games for Mumbai Indians to perfection. He has smashed 216 runs in 14 games at a magnificent strike rate of 166.15.

All-rounder: Cameron Green

Cameron Green is one of the exciting prospects in the Australian cricketing circles. He has annihilated bowlers with his stroke play and turned the game in favour of his side. Also, the youngster has been a handy contributor with the ball across formats.

Green has set the 16th edition of the lucrative T20 tournament ablaze with his breathtaking batting performances. The ace all-rounder has featured in 14 games and blasted 381 runs at a superb strike rate of 159.41, which includes a century and two half-centuries.

Besides his batting might, Green has been a wily customer with the ball and bagged six wickets for Mumbai Indians. He would look to bring his A-game to play in the crunch game against Lucknow Super Giants.

Bowlers : Piyush Chawla, Kumar Kartikeya, Chris Jordan, Jason Behrendorff, Akash Madhwal

Mumbai have the services of Piyush Chawla and Kumar Kartikeya in the spin-bowling department. Piyush has been MI’s wrecker-in-chief in the ongoing season and bagged 20 wickets in 14 games at an economy of 7.81. Kartikeya, on the other hand, has not been consistent with the ball and managed to bag only five scalps in seven games.

Coming to Mumbai’s fast-bowling stocks, Mumbai have Chris Jordan, Jason Behrendorff and Akash Madhwal in their arsenal. Jordan has failed to weave his magic thus far in the season and picked up just two wickets in four matches at an alarming rate of 10.87.

Behrendorff has a good job and has taken 14 scalps in 10 matches at an economy of 9.65. Akash has also impressed with his performances and bagged eight wickets in six games at an economy of 9.00, which includes a four-wicket haul against Hyderabad.

Mumbai Indians (MI) Probable Playing 11:

Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk),  Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David, Chris Jordan, Piyush Chawla, Kumar Kartikeya, Akash Madhwal, Jason Behrendorff

Mumbai Indians (MI) Probable Impact Players:

Vishnu Vinod, Shams Mulani, Ramandeep Singh, Arshad Khan, Raghav Goyal
