The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL)  is right around the corner. The marquee tournament is all set to get underway on March 31. All ten franchises are studded with top-drawer players who have made IPL their happy hunting ground and can again set the upcoming season of the cash-rich league ablaze with their performances.

Like every other season, the IPL 2023 will not be entirely about the international stars either as it will also witness many consistent performers from the Indian domestic circuit. Among them, there are certain uncapped players who can leave the cricket fraternity in awe of their exploits on the cricket field and also break some IPL records.

Here are three uncapped players who can break IPL records in the 2023 season

3. Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma has been a proven performer in the Indian domestic circuit. He has featured in 38 List-A matches and amassed 1138 runs at an impressive strike rate of 93.97. On the bowling front, the 22-year-old has bagged 21 wickets in those outings at an economy of 4.66.

Abhishek was quite magnificent with the bat in the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League. He hammered the opposition bowlers all across the park and provided Sunrisers Hyderabad with brisk starts on a consistent basis. Also, the southpaw steadied the ship when the team was in trouble and shepherded the innings beautifully.

Abhishek featured in 14 games in the high-profile competition and aggregated 426 runs at a strike rate of 133.13. When on song, the Amritsar-born has displayed his ability to take down even the best of bowlers. He could bring his A-game into play in the coming IPL season and shatter numerous records.

2. Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar has been a bankable name in the Indian domestic circuit. First-class cricket has been his happy hunting ground where he has ripped through batting line-ups and stamped his authority on the cricket field. The 29-year-old has played 39 first-class matches, picking up 149 wickets at an average of 21.55.

Mukesh has displayed his bowling might in the shortest format as well and bagged 25 wickets in 23 matches at an economy of 7.20. Delhi Capitals liked what they saw in the right-arm pacer and went all guns blazing to sign him at the IPL 2023 auction. Eventually, they acquired him for a whopping sum of INR 5.5 crore.

Mukesh was simply sensational in the 2022-23 season of the Ranji Trophy and wreaked havoc with the ball. He featured in five matches for Bengal and bagged 22 wickets at an average of 22.27. The ace pacer has been in good form of late and could light up the forthcoming IPL edition with his bowling displays.

1. Rajat Patidar

Rajat Patidar has been a run-bank in the Indian domestic circuit. He has featured in 52 first-class matches and amassed 3795 runs at an average of 45.72. Coming to the shortest format, the 29-year-old has aggregated 1466 runs in 45 games at a strike rate of 147.93.

In the 15th IPL edition, Patidar was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore into their side as an injury replacement for Luvnith Sisodia and the Indore-born took the lucrative T20 tournament by storm with his breathtaking performances. He knocked the wind out of top-quality attacks and piled up runs for fun. Rajat featured in eight IPL games and plundered 333 runs at a staggering strike rate of 152.75, which includes an exceptional century in the high-voltage clash against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator.

Courtesy of his exploits in the IPL and the domestic arena, the ace batter received his maiden international call-up last year in October for the ODI series against South Africa. He was also picked for the 50-over leg against Bangladesh in December. Patidar’s stocks are on a meteoric rise, it would not be a surprise if he puts up a show with the bat in IPL 2023 and breaks certain records in the process.
