On November 6, Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell opened up on Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s incredible team culture. The 36-year-old noted that the franchise spent 30 minutes talking to him about their decision to not retain and that is something he has massive respect for. Interestingly, the cricketer also teased a potential move back to RCB if they end up raising the paddle for him.
Following Maxwell’s comments, RCB released a social media post highlighting the importance of having a good team culture. The franchise also shared what Director of Cricket Mo Bobat said on the importance of building relationships with the players and that releasing them and saying goodbye ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction was never an easy decision.

Bobat also mentioned that the players who represented RCB have done their job and believe that it’s now time to bring in new heroes for the franchise and its fans. He stated that the team is moving to a new phase and he is excited about what’s to come.
“Culture isn’t just about the middle of the journey, where everyone is together. It’s about building strong bonds at the start and honouring them at the end. Induction and exit are key for cultural connection, and we’re mindful of these phases. Last season, Andy and I felt incredibly fortunate to be part of a brilliant environment where, even under pressure, everyone focused on what was best for the team,” Bobat said.
“Saying goodbye to players is never easy, especially with so many shared memories. While it’s sad to part ways, it’s also an opportunity to bring in new heroes for RCB and our fans. We respect every player’s journey with us, and as we move into the next phase, we’re excited to keep building a special team culture,” he added.
Notably, RCB retained Virat Kohli for INR 21 crore and there are reports of him leading the team once again. Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal were retained for INR 11 crore and INR 5 crore each.
