Team India (IND) blew Bangladesh (BAN) away in the first T20I of the series at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, in Gwalior.

Bangladesh chose to bat first and almost nothing went right for them. Liton Das fell in the first over and Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Arshdeep Singh (3 for 14) and Varun Chakravarthy (3/31), who was playing his first match for India in almost three years, did most of the damage. During the innings, debutant Mayank Yadav bowled a maiden in his very first over in T20Is. From Bangladesh Mehidy Hasan Miraz (35* off 32) was the only batter who could survive after Bangladesh were bowled out for just 127.

India got off to a flyer at the start of their innings, courtesy of Abhishek Sharma (15 off 6) who was run out in the second over. Sanju Samson (29 off 19), Suryakumar Yadav (29 off 14) and Hardik Pandya (39* off 16) kept the momentum running and India finished the chase in less than 12 overs.

117 – Mayank Yadav and K Nitish Kumar Reddy became the 116th and 117th debutants for India in T20Is. 117 is now the highest number of players used by a team in T20Is. Pakistan is second with 116.

2 – Arshdeep Singh took his 4th wicket in his career in the first over of the innings in T20Is. For India, he is now the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the opening over alongside Ravichandran Ashwin. The leader though is Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 18.

3 – Mayank Yadav became the third Indian bowler to bowl his first over in T20Is to be a maiden. The other two are Ajit Agarkar and Arshdeep Singh. Even in the rest of the world, only 5 players have done this from full-member countries.
