India, after having defeated Australia by five wickets in the first ODI at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, will look to continue the winning momentum as the action moves to Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, where the second ODI will be played on 19th March 2023. In Mumbai, India continued their dominance as they registered their eighth consecutive win, in the first of the three-match ODI series.
Talking about the first game, India won the toss and opted to field first. Australia lost Travis Head in the second over as Siraj continued his powerplay dominance. Mitchell Marsh amassed 81 runs that included ten fours and five sixes to give some respite to the touring side. No batter other than Mitchell Marsh could make much of an impact as Australia got bundled out for 188 within 36 overs. For India, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj picked up three wickets each.
In response to Australia’s 188, the chase looked a bit tricky for India as well after they lost the first four wickets within 11 overs, thus getting reduced to a score of 39/4. Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul led the recovery with a 44-run stand before the brilliance of Marcus Stoinis sent Pandya back.
Ravindra Jadeja then joined hands with KL Rahul to cautiously stitch up an unconquered partnership. The duo together added 108 runs to take India over the line in the first ODI. KL Rahul notched up his 13th half-century as Ravindra Jadeja continued to deliver all-round performances for team India by scoring an unbeaten 45 runs after picking up two wickets in the first innings. Moving to the next match, we look at the head-to-head records between both teams and discuss the statistics and numbers associated with the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Pacers have thoroughly enjoyed bowling at this establishment as a whopping 68 wickets in nine games have been picked up by speedsters. On the other hand, spinners have taken 48 scalps at this stadium. In the nine uninterrupted games played in this venue, three were won batting first whereas the team batting second emerged victorious in five matches. One game ended in a tie whereas one match was abandoned. Conspicuously, batting second would be preferred by the team winning the toss, if one has to go by the numbers.
India have played nine matches in this venue out of which they have won seven games and lost one, with another game ending in a tie. Australia will play the second game in this venue after 13 years and would look to leave behind the results of the previous match played here which didn’t go their way.
