Sri Lanka Cricket recently announced it would host a Women’s ODI tri-series featuring India, South Africa, and the home team from April 27 to May 11, 2025. The tri-series, which was not originally included in the Future Tours Programme (FTP), will serve as an important preparatory series ahead of the Women’s ODI World Cup later this year in India. All matches will be played as day games at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Each team will play four matches, facing the other two teams twice in the group stage. The top two teams at the end of the league phase will lock horns in the final on May 11. The series kicks off with the hosts, Sri Lanka, taking on India on April 27.

While Sri Lanka is currently on a white-ball tour of New Zealand, several Indian and South African players are playing in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). South Africa’s international schedule previously had their next assignment set for June against the West Indies, making this tri-series a valuable addition to their preparations.

South Africa follows closely at fourth, while Sri Lanka, the ruling Women’s Asia Cup champions, is ranked seventh. The South African side made it to the semifinals of the last ODI World Cup in 2022 after eliminating India in the league stages.
