India set to feature in Hong Kong Sixes for first time in 12 years

The reigning T20 World Cup champions, India, are all set to make their presence felt at the Hong Kong Sixes for the first time after an extended hiatus of 12 years. The iconic tournament, whose last edition was held way back in 2017, will be making a comeback as it is scheduled to be staged from November 1 to November 3 this year.

Cricket Hong Kong themselves confirmed the participation of the Indian team, who are all set to be one among 11 nations to feature in the upcoming edition.

What are the rules of Hong Kong Sixes?

The Hong Kong Sixes, which had its first edition held in 1992, has had the likes of cricketing greats, Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, try their hands at it. As far as the rules are concerned, each match lasts a maximum of 45 minutes, with a team allowed to field a maximum of six players. Each team faces five overs and everyone, excluding the person with the gloves, is mandated to bowl an over each.

One of the most intriguing rules is that batters are forced to retire once they reach a score of 31. Retired players are free to return to bat later if all the other members of the team have been dismissed. This particular directive has been in place to encourage games to be fast-paced and high-scoring ones, maximizing entertainment value for the spectators involved.
