The 15-member squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh was announced by the BCCI (oard of Control for Cricket in India) just a while back. Suryakumar Yadav, who was entrusted with leading the Indian T20I contingent in Sri Lanka, has yet again been delegated with the responsibility of skippering the side.
The two wicketkeepers selected are Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma, who gets his comeback call after being out of the reckoning for nearly three-fourths of 2024. Yashasvi Jaiswal wasn’t considered, and instead of him, Abhishek Sharma may get to open the innings. A flurry of all-rounders flock to the squad- Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube, and Washington Sundar – being the regulars. Nitish Kumar Reddy gets his maiden call-up after impressing in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. Rinku Singh can be expected to bat higher up the order.
The specialist spinners drafted are Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakravarthy. While the former has still been around the T20I setup and has played games as well, the mystery spinner last played for Team India in November 2021 and will be aiming to carry forward his Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024 form into the series.
Mayank Yadav, the speedster who rose to prominence in the couple of IPL seasons he featured in, has been granted his maiden India call-up. After just four games into his IPL 2024 campaign, he suffered a side strain which ruled him out of the tournament. He has ever since, eased his way into bowling, and it will be exciting to see him pair up with Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.
