After an emphatic win against Australia in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25), India will take on the hosts in the second Test which will be a Pink Ball Test in Adelaide, starting on December 6. They now lead the five-match series by 1-0 and ahead of the crucial second Test, they were to play a 2-day Warm-up Match against the Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, from (Saturday) November 30.
The Prime Minister of Australia picks the PM XI team to play against the visitors. Anthony Albanese currently holds the PM chair, and he even hosted Team India at the Prime Minister’s office recently. The team is primarily focused on providing an opportunity to rising Australian stars along with some known names who will tussle hard for victory.
This game was initially slated as an ODI game, but since 2022, the tradition of it being a red-ball game has been followed. Notably, the tradition of PM XI playing against a visiting side started in 1951.
Rain delays India’s tour game in Canberra
Speaking of the game, the weather seems to be not ready to let the game begin and thunder and showers have been constant since the start of the day. The game was scheduled to begin at around 2 PM in Canberra and it would be interesting to see if the weather permits India a chance to prepare for the day and night Test. The toss could not happen due to incessant rain, at around 2:40 PM (AST time), the weather showed chances of rain as 100%, and the intensity of the rainfall was around 12 mm.
