‘India is on the Moon’ – Cricketing fraternity celebrates successful moon landing of Chandrayaan 3

Chandrayaan 3

India’s third lunar space mission Chandrayan 3 was successfully completed on Wednesday, August 23 as the Vikram Lander Module made the soft landing on moon’s surface. The entire nation is celebrating the momentous achievement as India became the fourth nation in the world to land on moon after the United States, Soviet Union and China. Furthermore, India became the first nation to make a successful landing on the south pole of the celestial body.

Notably, Chandrayan 3 was launched on 14 July 2023 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota. It is ISRO’s (Indian Space Research Organisation) second attempt after the failure of the Chandrayan-2 mission which faced challenges while soft landing on the lunar surface in 2019.

The real Test of the mission began at the last leg of the landing much like Chandrayan 2 which failed during the last 20 minutes before landing. During the crucial phase, ISRO initiated Automatic Landing sequence (ALS) which allowed Vikram LM to use its on-board computers and logic to identify a favourable spot to make a soft landing on the lunar surface. The entire nation waited with bated breath for the successful landing and was sent into a frenzy upon its successful completion.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission’s lander, Vikram Lander Module, is named after Vikram Sarabhai (1919-1971), who is widely regarded as the father of the Indian space programme. India’s mission has also garnered praise from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Tesla CEO Elon Musk who were also rooting for the success of India’s moon mission.

Meanwhile, the entire Indian cricketing fraternity expressed their elation on the proud moment for the country and congratulated ISRO for the success of the mission.

Here’s how the cricketing fraternity reacted to Chandrayaan 3 success:

Hello Moon! 👋🌕
