Former India cricketer Ravi Shastri took centre stage and predicted the outcome of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25. Shastri backed the Indian team to once again topple Australia in the series. It is worth noting that India have won the last two series down under and have held onto the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since 2015.

As Australia defeated India in the final of the World Test Championship, Ravi Shastri is well aware that the Pat Cummins-led side will aim to get their hands on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as well.

With new coach Gautam Gambhir at the helm, Shastri seemed confident that the side would be able to make it a hat trick of wins in the series. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and many more stars will be expected to stay at the top of their games when they visit down under.

“The Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia over five Test matches is going to be a humdinger; remember, India have beaten Australia twice on the last two tours, and Australia have not had a hand on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in almost a decade, and that’s the reason why everyone will be waiting for these two heavyweights of Test match cricket over the last five to eight years to go head-to-head,” Shastri was quoted as saying by the ICC.

“It is going to be one heck of a series, and India have every chance of making it a hat-trick because they’ve got their bowlers fit, and if they can bat well, they can tickle (beat) Australia once again,” he added.

Furthermore, Ravi Shastri also talked about how Australia will be hungry for redemption and a win against India on home soil. He also lauded the Aussies’ bowling attack and how it could pose problems for India.

“We know what Australia will be wanting (revenge) They will be thirsty, they’d be looking to go at the throats of the Indians because they’ve been beaten there (in Australia) twice,” Shastri said.
