Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly expects India to play the same good cricket as they have been playing since the Asia Cup to win the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is slated to begin on October 5.

Notably, under the able leadership of Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue did a commendable job and bagged the continental cup by beating Sri Lanka by ten wickets in the finals. Later, the team went on to defeat Australia 2-1 in the three-match ODI series at home in the build-up to the World Cup.

Speaking about India’s chances, Ganguly reminded that the upcoming ODI World Cup will be a big tournament for the team. He also expressed that the team is currently playing a good brand of cricket and hence, it’s a matter of delight but added that they will have to repeat the same for the next 45 days in order to bag the trophy.

“This is going to be a big World Cup. The World Cup is a big tournament. India has been playing very well, so it is a matter of delight. We hope that they continue to play the same good Cricket for the next 45 days,” Ganguly told reporters.

India will play two warm-up games, against England and the Netherlands, ahead of the commencement of the tournament. England are in remarkable form at the moment, winning a series against New Zealand and Ireland at home. Dawid Malan and Ben Stokes have been in remarkable form at the moment while Moeen Ali has impressed with the ball. Hence, the match against England can prove to be a feisty affair for India.

Meanwhile, the Indian team will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8 in MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India might end up playing an extra spinner in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin on the spin-friendly track of Chennai,. The veteran replaced Axar Patel who is currently dealing with a injury.
