India and Bangladesh are well into the first Test of the ongoing multi-format series. Both sides locked horns in the first Test of the series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 19, and as India came in to bat first after losing the toss, a moment from the first session quickly captured the attention of the fans.

After India had lost their first three wickets, Rishabh Pant came out to bat, and the star batter was left fuming after he was accidentally hit with the ball by one of Bangladesh’s fielders.

It is worth noting that the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli were unable to make an impact in the first innings of the clash. The hosts were reduced to a score of 34/3 when Pant came out to bat. The incident happened in the 16th over of the first innings when Pant was batting on a score of 14 runs. It was at this moment that Pant was hit by an overthrow after which he argued with Litton Das.

Talking to Das about the moment, Pant said, “Usko bhi to dekho, merko kyu mar raha hai? (Look at your player too; why is he hitting me?)” The clip of the moment has been going viral all over social media.

It is worth noting that despite such a shaky start, India stabilized their innings after Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal showed resilience. Both batters helped India post a score of 88 runs with the loss of three wickets by the end of the first session.

Before lunch, Pant and Jaiswal built a solid 54-run partnership and did not allow Bangladesh another breakthrough after the three early blows at the start of the day. After lunch, Pant was eventually sent back to the pavilion for a score of 39 runs in 52 deliveries as KL Rahul came out to accompany Jaiswal.
