The third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy is finally underway. As India takes on Australia in Indore, they will be looking to maintain their grip on the series after the hosts dominated the first two matches of the series. The Aussies have gotten off to a sensational start to the match.
Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon have been impressive, dismissing captain Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Cheteshwar Pujara early to give themselves a head start in the match. Many fans were looking forward to Gill’s inclusion after KL Rahul was dropped from the playing XI due to his poor performances.
As Gill finally got his chance against Australia, the 23-year-old completed a risky single in the seventh over. However, he dived to take the single and hurt himself while taking the quick run. In the very next over, things went from bad to worse for Gill, as he was sent back to the pavilion by Kuhnemann.
Things worsen for team India as they continue to lose wickets
Many opined that team India would once again dominate the third Test against Australia as they have done in the last two matches. But the visitors are keen on making a statement as they continue to wreak havoc on the Indian batting attack. India will once again look to depend on their lower order to score runs for them.
Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin performed admirably in the first two Tests against Australia, and India will be hoping that they can do so again. Following the collapse of India’s top order, it will be interesting to see how they fare against the relentless attack of Australia’s bowling lineup.
