Inaugural MLC to be played from July 13 to 30 in Dallas and Morrisville

The city of Dallas in Texas is all set to host the inaugural match of the upcoming Major League Cricket. The tournament will be played for six days in Texas before shifting to Morrisville, North Carolina. It will return to Dallas for the final stage of the competition. The tournament will be played from July 13 to 30.

Notably, Morrisville often hosts Minor League matches and thus, the ground seems to be ready to host the first-ever franchise-based tournament in the United States of America. Meanwhile, the inaugural season will see six teams participating for ultimate glory. As many as four out of the six are associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Kolkata Knight Riders were the first Indian franchise to invest in American cricket as the team in MLC will be known as Los Angles Knight Riders. Similarly, the Chennai Super Kings-owned franchise will be known as Texas Super Kings, the Mumbai Indians-owned franchise will be known as MI New York and the Delhi Capitals-based franchise will be known as Seattle Orcas. Texas Super Kings will be hosting Los Angles Knight Riders in the opening match of the competition.

The remaining two franchises are Washington Freedom and San Francisco Unicorns. Interestingly, both these teams have Indian stakeholders. Meanwhile, the tournament is set to begin on July 13 at Grand Prairie Stadium. The playoffs will also be played on the same ground, with the finals to be hosted on July 30.
