Alice Capsey, the 18-year-old cricketing sensation from England, boasts an illustrious career despite her tender age. Hailing as an all-rounder, she has triumphed on various cricketing stages across the globe, securing remarkable victories. Notably, she has already clinched the Hundred title with the Oval Invincibles and now aims for another remarkable season with her franchise in the ongoing season.
The young talent has already left her mark in prestigious tournaments such as the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL). Representing the Delhi Capitals in WPL 2023, her crucial contributions guided the team to the finals, where they narrowly missed the trophy, losing to Mumbai Indians.
Although her international debut was only back in 2021, Capsey has swiftly established herself as a vital asset for England’s women’s team. In an exclusive interaction arranged by Sony Sports Network, Alice unveiled her bold and audacious approach toward the Hundred tournament. When posed with a question by News18 Cricketnext, Alice expressed her intentions for the current season of the Hundred and her desire to inspire and captivate fans through her on-field prowess.
“I think it’s how I have played since growing up, when you grow up you want to be the best in the world, you want to be the best you can be. Especially me being quite competitive, I wanted to win at everything. I think that mentality goes hand in hand with the risk and reward aspect,” stated Alice Capsey.
She further elaborated, “I think especially in these franchise competitions and T20 cricket, that’s what it’s about inspiring and entertaining and from my point of view when I’m entertaining, I’m playing that fearless brand of cricket, that’s also when I’m at my clearest.”
Looking ahead to the second edition of WPL, Capsey shared her excitement about the league being played in a home-and-away format during the Diwali window, as hinted by BCCI secretary Jay Shah. She expressed eagerness to embrace the opportunity to travel to different places, feel the support of home crowds, and explore various parts of India.
Recalling her experience with Delhi Capitals, Alice expressed delight at sharing the dressing room with personalities like Jemimah Rodrigues and Radha Yadav. She admired their spirited nature both on and off the field, attributing it to their brilliance as players and their dynamic personalities.
