ILT20 2025: DV vs GG, Match 5 – Stats preview of players’ records and approaching milestones

Team Desert Vipers (DV) will face off against Gulf Giants (GG) in Match 5 of the ILT20 2025 (International League T20). Both teams have made contrasting starts to their campaign as Giants lost their season opener to Sharjah Warriorz, while Desert Vipers beat Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in Match 3 and 2, respectively.

In their previous game, Desert Vipers put up a strong show with the ball to restrict ADKR to just 165, despite an unbeaten 71* from Phil Salt and a late burst from Andre Russell. Dan Lawrence’s 70 and an unbeaten 50* from Sam Curran, made sure that the Vipers got home without too much trouble. 

Gulf Giants though, went down to Sharjah Warriorz in a last-ball thriller later that day. Rehan Ahmed, promoted to No. 3, along with Jordan Cox gave some stability to an early collapse. Shimron Hetmyer and Mark Adair provided some fireworks towards the end to push the Giants to 174. Tom Kohler-Cadmore led the Warriorz’s reply but saw wickets fall all around him.

Kohler-Cadmore put up a stand of 105 with Rohan Mustafa but the latter’s departure sparked a second collapse that he had to bat through. Eventually, the equation was 10 runs needed off the last over and the pressure piled on after two dots and a double that left Kohler-Cadmore needing 8 runs off the last three balls. He proceeded to hit it for six and then took two more off the last ball of the game to take his team home.
