‘ICC is a bit too strict on players’ – Harbhajan Singh wants Head-Siraj row to end before Gabba Test(Photo Source: Twitter/X)
Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj were penalised after their heated spat during the second Test between Australia and India at Adelaide. The controversy erupted after Siraj bowled Head in the middle and celebrated in an animated manner, which infuriated the flamboyant Australia batter and he in reply abused the pacer before walking back to the pavilion.
Later, Head claimed that he said ‘well bowled’ to Siraj but the pacer failed to interpret and that resulted in a series of abuses. However, the Indian pacer later called out Head for lying in the press conference. He mentioned that Head never said ‘well bowled’ to him but rather abused after getting out and that promoted Siraj to celebrate in an animated manner.
Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh in the meantime wants the clash to end ahead of the third Test against Australia at Gabba. He noted that ICC was a bit too strict on the players as such things can happen on the ground. He now wants the players to get on with the game and focus on cricket rather than outside controversies.

“Well, I think ICC is a bit too strict on players. These things happen in the ground. Obviously, forget what has happened and move forward. The players have patched up and talked to each other. Anyways, ICC being ICC has sanctioned the players. Let’s put that aside now and let’s move forward which is obviously, Brisbane. Let’s focus on cricket rather than all these controversies. Enough is enough,” Harbhajan said on Star Sports.
I feel is that this should be the end of this thing right now: Piyush Chawla
Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla echoed Harbhajan’s sentiments and wants the controversy to end. He wants the players to move on from the Adelaide incident but expects more such heated arguments in the next Test at Gabba, where the winner can take an important lead in the series and get closer to the World Test Championship finale.
“You can’t really say who was wrong, who was right here. What I feel is that this should be the end of this thing right now. There’s no on this thing to the next match or the 4th test match, and just what I feel personally is, that things will definitely get heated from the next Test match again, but what incident happened here, should leave it here in Adelaide,” said Chawla.
