A lot of brainstorming is going on with regards to the next Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team. The current coach, Rahul Dravid’s tenure will end just after the T20 World Cup 2024 in June. Dravid has shown the least interest in re-applying for the position and the hunt became intense. Amidst all the names popping up for the coveted job, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his interest in coaching Team India.

Recently, Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir’s name was doing rounds for the high-profile job. While Gambhir does not meet all the required criteria for the position, his mentoring of Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024 has played a major role. Harbhajan on the other hand, stressed that the job demands man management more than teaching the players technicalities of the game.

“I do not know if I would apply. Coaching India is about man management, not about teaching players how to drive and pull. They know it very well. You can give some guidance to them. Cricket has given me so much and If I get a chance to give it back, I would be more than happy,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying by Times Of India (TOI).

Other names that joined the rumour mills are Chennai Super Kings’ coach Stephen Fleming and Australia’s former head coach, Justin Langer. Langer has particularly been vocal about his openness to work with the Indian team. While expressing the desire he also highlighted the immense pressure the job comes with as India is a cricket freak nation.
