Flamboyant batter Ishan Kishan is in phenomenal form at the moment. The southpaw hit a terrific half-century in the final Test and repeated the same in the 50-over format as well. Courtesy of his back-to-back half-centuries, the stumper-batter won the Player of the Series against West Indies, and with that, he has more or less confirmed his berth for the upcoming ODI World Cup squad.
Meanwhile, after the game, Kishan got to interact with the legendary Brian Lara. Talking to him, the 25-year-old called himself a big fan and revealed when the former West Indies skipper dropped him a text on Instagram. Notably, the third and final ODI of the series was played at the Brian Lara Stadium, and thus, Kishan mentioned that he is very happy to perform in a stadium named after him.
“I think for me, the most important things are the stories I’ve heard. I have heard that you always used to bat till lunch and if you are there on the pitch, you go to practice and then again come to bat. So that is something to learn from you. And I was very excited to… you know, once you texted me on Instagram, and I was actually in shock, like how come you texted me. Such a legend of this game texted me, and I was very happy about it,” Ishan told Lara.

“Performing here where your name is there on the board was really special for me. And, you know, I love to watch highlights, and I’ve seen your innings, how you used to play and hit those shots. So I’m actually happy to perform here,” he added.
Notably, Kishan smashed 77 runs as India posted a mammoth total of 351 runs in the third ODI. The bowlers once again did a spectacular job as Shardul Thakur picked up four wickets while Mukesh Kumar picked up three. Courtesy of their phenomenal performance, the Hardik Pandya-led side won the match by 200 runs.
