England’s Test captain, Ben Stokes suffered a hamstring injury during The Hundred 2024. The all-rounder is a miss in the ongoing red-ball series against Sri Lanka and he will likely get back in the groove for the Pakistan series. Stokes featured for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred and tore his left hamstring which will keep him away for the rest of the summer.
England will play Pakistan in the first Test on October 7, in Multan. The team is expected to land in the country on October 2, five days before the inaugural game. Stokes will aim for a comeback ahead of the subcontinent tour. It is worth noting that, when the English toured Pakistan in 2022, they whitewashed the hosts by 3-0 in the red-ball series.
Moreover, Ben Stokes had bowled just 35 overs in the previous series as he was coming out of a chronic knee injury. Even during the series against India in early 2024, he bowled just five overs across games. Ahead of England’s crucial sub-continent tour, the 33-year-old quipped that he is itching to get back as quickly as possible.

“I’m all good, just slowly progressing. It’s still very early days in the rehab period. I want to get back as quick as I possibly can, so being around the medical team here with physio and doctors, I thought that was going to give myself the best chance of getting back sooner rather than later,” said Stokes in a video uploaded by the England Cricket Board (ECB).
