Australia Women is set to tour England in June and July 2023 to compete in the Women’s Ashes 2023. The visit will include one Women’s Test match, three Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), and three One Day Internationals (WODIs). Australia are the defending champions, having won the Women’s Ashes series in 2021-22.
With their multi-format series commencing in June, England bowler Issy Wong claimed it’s an ideal time to take on Australia Women. She stated that Australia is without a doubt, one of the best teams in history, regardless of sport or gender. The 20-year-old made her debut in all three formats of the game during South Africa’s tour of England last summer and hopes to be part of England’s Ashes campaign.
“I think it’s a pretty good time to play them, you know, just quietly. They are undoubtedly, in my opinion, one of the greatest sports teams in history, of any sport, of any gender. Their record over the last 10 years is absolutely outrageous,” Wong was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
Have never played them though but I’ve watched Australia on the telly a lot, they look great: Wong
Wong went on to say that she believes this is a wonderful time to play Australia. She went on to say that she had seen the Australian team a lot on television and that they looked amazing. Notably, she has never previously played against Australia.
“I think it’s a really good time to actually go at them and say, ‘right, you are the best team in history, but you’ve a couple of new faces in here and let’s see if you’re as good as you were five years ago.’ I think it’s great time to play. I’ve never played them though (bursted into laughter). I’ve watched them on the telly a lot, they look great,” she added.
