The Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024 is all set to kick off in November and will see the Indian team tour Australia for a five-game Test series. Over the years, the BGT has seen many memorable moments, from Rishabh Pant’s heroics at the Gabba to Virat Kohli dismantling Australia’s bowling lineup.

From these many moments, there are some that even star Australian cricketers remember. Coming forward to do an interview, former Australia skipper Tim Paine talked about his most memorable moments from the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

The 39-year-old revealed that dropping the catch of Rishabh Pant in the Sydney Test of the BGT 2020-21 has been a memorable moment for him. Furthermore, Paine also talked about Virat Kohli’s century in Perth in 2018 as a major moment. It is worth noting that the Sydney Test was drawn between Australia and India, and Rishabh Pant went on to score 97 runs in 118 deliveries in the second innings to help India draw the game.

“I remember dropping Rishabh a couple of times, and lots of Indians like to remind me of that. So, I certainly haven’t forgotten that. Also Virat’s 100 in Perth on a really fast wicket and our attack of three or four big fast bowlers and I thought that just to be able to stand there close up to that as the wicketkeeper, that was a masterclass,” Tim Paine told Crictracker.

India have got high-quality fast bowlers: Paine

Furthermore, Tim Paine heaped praise on the Indian team and how they have built up their pace attack in the last few years, which has seen Australia get their treatment of aggressive bowling back to them.

“Now that India have got high quality fast bowlers, the dynamic of that series, particularly in Australia, has really changed. We used to be able to be quite aggressive and bowl a lot of bouncers, have a fun bit of fun getting stuck up to the Indian batters. Now, the shoe is on the other foot, it is actually coming back at us. I am looking forward to the next one watching how your fast bowlers perform here in Australia and how both batting lineups handle the pace,” Paine said.
