Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian team, spoke at the pre-match conference before the highly anticipated semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. During the press conference, a member from the media asked Rohit about his journey as an individual, reflecting on how he started as a young boy playing on the same ground and now leading the team in the World Cup semi-finals.
In response, Rohit stated that he doesn’t have much time to think about his personal journey at the moment, as his focus is solely on the upcoming game. He emphasised that his main priority is to get the job done for the team and that he will only have time to reflect on his journey after November 19th.
“I don’t think there’s so much time to think about it (his journey). My focus is on the game and what we have in hand tomorrow. I seriously have no time to think about my journey. What it has been in the past. Probably after 19 November, I’ll think about it, but right now it’s just business and pure business of getting the job done for the team,” Rohit said.
He also highlighted the importance of performing well in such a high-profile tournament and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to continue their strong performance in the World Cup.
“It’s such a high-profile tournament, everybody is watching, and you want to display what one could cricket as Indian team. That is wha we’ve done in this tournament so far which is very, very good. We don’t really have to change too much. Being in that same mindset as we were before the start of the World Cup,” he added.
