I have a gut feeling, Dhoni will be done after IPL 2024: Wasim Akram

I have a gut feeling, Dhoni will be done after IPL 2024 Wasim Akram

Chennai Super King’s journey in the Indian Premier League 2024 concluded with a loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 18. The defending champions entered the do-or-die game with an edge but failed to cross over the line at the crunch moment. The particular game is touted as the potential last game of the legend MS Dhoni. Amidst all the speculations, former Pakistan pacer, Wasim Akram has opined on the hot topic.

Dhoni had previously hinted that his final T20 game would be in Chennai. The stage was set for a perfect swansong as the finals of the IPL 2024 are scheduled in Chennai. But CSK’s early departure has made every possibility of Dhoni’s desire look slim. Akram however, feels that the former CSK captain might as well hang his boots after the season.

“[On MS Dhoni’s future] I have a gut feeling, he’ll be done after this. Players like him come in a lifetime, it all depends on him. [On Memorable six] His legacy is not just that [110m] six, it’s something else. He’s done a lot for Indian cricket. He brought the mindset. As a captain, he brought calmness, played captaincy knocks, the way he became a finisher, the way he has groomed players, and showed consistency, so this will be his legacy,” Wasim Akram said as quoted by News18.

Captain Cool treated the fans with some big hits in the game against RCB. His team needed 17 runs to qualify off the final over. Dhoni was on strike and he smashed Yash Dayal’s very first delivery for a mammoth 110-meter six. Akram highlighted the very aspect and underscored the legacy of the wicket-keeper batter.
