The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell, shed light on his comparison with flamboyant batter, Virat Kohli. The Faf du Plessis-led RCB are gearing up for a clash against David Warner’s Delhi Capitals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Saturday, April 15.
Ahead of their crucial encounter, Maxwell during an interaction, stated that he was once compared with his RCB teammate, Kohli. He further added that the comparison was one of the best compliments he ever received.
“I got compared to Virat Kohli once, that was a serious compliment. It was completely unnecessary and definitely not even true but I had a couple of good knocks and got compared to Virat that was quite nice,” Maxwell recalled on RCB’s Bold Diaries show.
RCB registered a second straight defeat at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants at home, as the latter won the contest in what turned out to be a last-ball thriller. Notably, skipper Plessis, Kohli, and Maxwell fired in tandem to post a humongous first-innings total of 212 runs on the board in their 20 overs. While Faf remained unbeaten with 79 runs off 46 balls whereas Kohli and Maxwell got 61 and 59 runs, respectively, in the contest.
Get extra runs for hitting out of the stadium: Maxwell
During Faf’s impressive knock, the skipper clobbered a maximum which travelled 115m, making it the biggest six of IPL 2023. Maxwell in the same segment was asked about that one rule he might change in cricket if given a chance.
“It’s pretty rock solid at the moment. Maybe get more for hitting out of the stadium. If you lose the ball over the roof, maybe get a couple of extra runs,” responded Maxwell.
The trio will look to maintain their fine run and continue to put their best foot forward for the franchise. However, the side will swiftly need to get back to winning ways in order to keep the playoff hopes alive by the business end of the season.
