Legendary former West Indies batter Brian Lara recently came forward and talked about the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be held Down Under. Led by Rohit Sharma, India will be traveling to Australia for the five-game Test series, and the first Test will be held in Perth from November 22.

Ahead of the series, Brian Lara highlighted some players who could stand out for India in the BGT 2024-25. The former Windies batter opined that star India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal could prove to be a standout performer for the Indian team on the tour.

“I think he’s [Jaiswal] got the ability to play in any condition. I saw him in the Caribbean. Obviously, the pitches in Australia are slightly different, but if you take that sort of strength that you have, you’re going to play good cricket in any conditions. So, I expect to see him do well,” Lara was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

“I don’t think there’s much that he has to do technically. I just think it’s all about the mental thing. Traveling away from home. Playing against Australia on their shores is a different beast. But I believe that the Indian team that I’ve seen going to Australia over the last couple of occasions are very capable of winning,” he explained.

I think he’s going to have a big series: Shane Watson on Rishabh Pant

Furthermore, former Australia cricketer Shane Watson came forward and talked about how ace India batter Rishabh Pant could be another player that Australia will hope to be wary of in the series.

“One is Rishabh Pant. He’s obviously got great memories of the last tour he had from a batting perspective in Australia. The innings that he played at the Gabba was something very special. Knowing that he’s come through his challenges in the last couple of years to be able to come back as an even better player than what he left off, I think he’s going to have a big series,” Watson said.
