Legendary Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper, MS Dhoni, expressed that he could be ‘annoying’ as a captain when it comes to getting the field setting right during a match. Notably, the MS Dhoni-led CSK emerged victorious by 15 runs against the defending champions, Gujarat Titans, to seal their spot in the IPL Final, slated to be played on Sunday, May 28.

It is no secret that the 41-year-old skipper is a tactical mastermind on the field and prefers to rejig the field setting so as to get it spot on. After convincingly beating the Titans in Qualifier 1, Dhoni expressed that he looks at the conditions at the venue and then decides to adjust the players on the field based on his instinct.

“You see the wicket, you see the conditions and according to that, you keep adjusting the field. I can be a very annoying captain because I shift the fielder one or two feet here and there every time. The fielder needs to keep an eye on me. Imagine you are fielding and every two balls or three balls, I am like, ‘Okay two feet to your right, three feet to your left’,” Dhoni told Harsha Bhogle during the post-match presentation.

“It can be annoying. I always say I believe in my gut feel, I see the wicket, the line, what is really happening and more often than not, it pays off. The only request I ask from the fielders is ‘keep an eye on me, if you drop a catch, there won’t be any reactions but just keep an eye on me’,” he added.

Chennai Super Kings reach record-extending 10th IPL Final

It is worth mentioning that the yellow outfit’s win against the defending champions essentially meant that they will play their 10th IPL Final on Sunday, May 28. MS Dhoni and Co. will be gunning to add a record fifth title to their illustrious cabinet when they square against the winners of Qualifier 2.

Notably, Lucknow Super Giants will cross swords with five-time winners Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator on Wednesday, May 24. Following the defeat against CSK, Gujarat will have another shot to reach the finals as they will play the winners of the Eliminator.
