Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) mega auction, the former England pacer and legend, James Anderson, announced that he would be putting his name in the auction pool for the upcoming mega auction. Notably, Anderson had set his base price at INR 1.25 crore and recently stated that he was keen to play in the tournament.

It is worth noting that Anderson retired from international cricket this summer and has taken up a coaching role. Talking about his inclusion in the auction, Anderson opined that he is excited to play in the IPL 2025, given that he is picked by any franchise. Besides, he also said that he was open to contribute in any possible role in a bid to give back to cricket.

“That is the whole point of going to the auction, I think. I want to play cricket again. Whether I get picked or not is a different matter. There is definitely a feeling inside of me that I have got more to offer, in some shape or form. So, however long down the line that might be, in whatever capacity that might be I am not sure yet,” Anderson was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“But I’m really keen to play. I feel really fit, I’ve been bowling still, ticking over, so I feel like I’m in a good place and I’d love to have an opportunity to play somewhere,” Anderson said.

‘Nothing yet, keeping my fingers  crossed’ – Anderson on interest of IPL teams

Furthermore, James Anderson was asked if any of the 10 franchises showed interest in him ahead of the auction, and the former pacer opined that he has not received anything yet but has been keeping his fingers crossed.

“Nothing yet. We’ll just have to wait and see; keep my fingers crossed and see what happens,” Anderson said.

It is worth noting that Anderson has not featured in a competitive match since his send-off from the longest format. He decided to retire after the ECB told him that they would be prioritising the younger stars to prepare for the next Ashes tour to Australia.
