How many warm-up matches will India play before T20 World Cup 2024?

The ninth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from June 2 to 29. The forthcoming tournament will be the first ICC World Cup tournament to be held in the United States. At Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, the co-hosts United States and Canada will play the curtain-raiser on June 2.

The tournament will feature 20 qualified teams, with 55 games to be played overall. The teams are split up into four groups, with five teams in each group. The table-toppers from each group advance to the Super 8 Round. The qualified teams will be divided into two groups of four following this round. From these groups, the top-performing teams move on to the knockout stage. Teams that perform well in the knockout stage will advance to the semifinals and ultimately the championship match.

Depending on their arrival time, each of the 20 teams can play two warm-up matches prior to the ICC major event. The team has complete control over whether they want to play two games or make do with just one before the competition. Meanwhile, each team’s roster may include up to 15 players and needs to be announced before May 1. Modifications are still permitted through May 25, but anything beyond that needs approval from the ICC Technical Committee. In due course, prize money will also be announced.

India will play Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the co-host nation, the United States, in the group stages. The Men in Blue will be captained by Rohit Sharma, while Hardik Pandya will serve as his deputy. The highly anticipated match in the tournament will be the clash between India and Pakistan, who have long been bitter rivals. The clash between the arch-rivals will take place in New York City on June 9 and is sure to be another unforgettable chapter in their rivalry.
