High-flying Sri Lanka name squad for Afghanistan T20Is

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced its 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan starting on February 17. The side will look to continue their momentum from recent victories in the one-off Test and ODIs.

On Monday, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) made an official announcement regarding the squad selection for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Led by all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, with Charith Asalanka serving as his deputy, the squad reflects a blend of experience and emerging talent.

The appointed squad, approved by Sports Minister Harin Fernando, features notable names including Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, and Angelo Mathews. Additionally, the team includes rising stars such as Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana.

Binura Fernando has replaced Dushmantha Chameera who is recovering from an injury sustained during the ODI series against Afghanistan.

Sri Lanka look to continue their dominance in the series against Afghanistan

Having dominated the recent encounters against Afghanistan in both the Test and the ODI series, Sri Lanka will enter the T20I series with confidence and determination. The team’s recent triumphs include a resounding ten-wicket victory in the Test match followed by successive wins in the ODI series.

As Sri Lanka gear up to face Afghanistan in the T20Is, they will look to maintain their winning streak and assert their dominance further. The series, scheduled to be held at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium on February 17, 19, and 21, presents an opportunity for Sri Lanka to continue their winning momentum.
