Kuldeep Yadav has firmly established himself as India’s premier wrist-spinner in the 2023 Asia Cup. Piyush Chawla, a former spinner of repute, could not help but sing praises for the young maestroafter Kuldeep orchestrated a masterful performance in the recent encounter against Sri Lanka, claiming four crucial wickets and aiding India in securing a 41-run victory at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The left arm chinaman’s remarkable run began with a scintillating five-wicket haul against arch-rivals Pakistan in a Super Fours match. Despite weather-related disruptions, his stellar performance was instrumental in India’s staggering 228-run triumph.

As a testament to his exceptional form, grapevine is abuzz saying he was rightfully designated as India’s primary spinner for both the World Cup and Asia Cup squads, edging out the seasoned Yuzvendra Chahal.

What sets Kuldeep apart, according to Chawla, is his fearlessness in the face of failure. The former spinner marvelled at Kuldeep’s ability to approach his craft with unbridled confidence and an unwavering commitment to taking wickets.

‘He’s just coming and he’s enjoying his bowling’ – Piyush Chawla on Kuldeep Yadav

“So that’s what he’s doing at the moment. He’s not scared of, there’s no fear of failure. He’s just coming and he’s enjoying his bowling and the best part is he’s looking to get wickets in every over,” Chawla said in a post-match show on Star Sports.

The former India player further elaborated on the psychological aspect of the game, highlighting how the absence of fear can unlock a player’s true potential.

“Sometimes you have that fear of failure. Because, you think if I don’t get the wickets then I might not play the next game. So once that fear is out of your mind, you try to get more attacking and you’re not scared of getting hit, and in that process you end up getting more wickets,” he said.
