‘He was taking the game forward’ – Pragyan Ojha lauds Yashasvi Jaiswal’s solid knock against Afghanistan

The Indian team put in a magnificent performance against Afghanistan in the second T20I to clinch the ongoing series. After winning the first T20I in dominant fashion, the Men in Blue replicated their performances in the second clash and won the game by six wickets.

Aiming to chase down a target of 173 runs, it was the knocks of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube that propelled the side to a brilliant win. Speaking of India’s performances, former Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha came forward to laud the performance of Jaiswal in the second T20I.

It is worth noting that Jaiswal scored 68 runs in 34 deliveries and helped the hosts chase down the target, and seeing his performance, Ojha opined that Jaiswal’s showing showcased his hunger for runs and how he knows that there are limited seats available for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“The way he batted, the pace at which he played, the confidence he showed—he showed maturity along with striking ability. He wasn’t leaving the game. He was taking the game forward,” Ojha said in a discussion on Colors Cineplex.

“He scored a huge percentage of the team’s runs. It shows his hunger. He knows very few tickets are available for the World Cup. If you have to get that, you will have to play like this, and it’s extremely important that you finish the game as well,” Ojha added.

India aim to clean sweep Afghanistan

The Indian team clinched the series against Afghanistan after defeating the side in the second T20I. The clash began with Afghanistan coming into bat first and posting a total of 172 runs on the board in the first innings. Arshdeep Singh was the highest wicket-taker for India in the first innings, with three wickets to his name. Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel took two wickets each, as Shivam Dube struck once as well.

Aiming to chase down a target of 173 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube scored 68 and 63 runs, respectively, and helped India win the game by six wickets. Having already won the series, India will take on Afghanistan in the third T20I on Wednesday, January 17 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
