Ahead of the clash against Delhi Capitals (DC), former cricketer Aakash Chopra opined that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ajinkya Rahane might have some issues playing on the turning track at Chepauk. Notably, CSK cross swords with David Warner’s Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, May 10.
Rahane is relishing a stupendous campaign, as a change in his batting approach seems to have worked the trick. The right-hander has displayed his lethal hitting exploits and collected 245 runs at a solid average of 40.83 in seven innings this season. However, Chopra stated that the 22-yard-strip is expected to offer turn and added that Rahane, in particular, will be challenged, however, the rest of the CSK batting unit should not have too many problems.
“The Chepauk square has pitches on one side with some red soil. So, more runs are scored there. I feel those matches are over. Now they will not get them to play there. You will see a pitch that will turn even more. Ajinkya Rahane might have some problems but the rest of the batters will not have any problems,” he said on his YouTube channel.
You will see three spinners for sure: Aakash Chopra
Highlighting the spin-friendly conditions, Chopra further added that the yellow outfit is sure to field three spinners – Maheesh Theekshana, Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali. He opined that MS Dhoni and Co. have an advantage of the home conditions.
“You will see three spinners for sure – Maheesh Theekshana, Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali. I feel all three of them will bowl their full quota of four overs. There are left-handers as well in front, so you might see Moeen Ali bowling more. Chennai have a slight advantage because they are playing at home and especially because the opposition team has four overseas batters,” he added.
