Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal wreaked havoc and recorded the fastest half-century ever in the history of the Indian Premier League against Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Eden Gardens. The Rajasthan Royals’ opener showed a lot of intent right from the very first over, hitting 26 runs against Nitish Rana while completing his half-century in just 13 deliveries. Overall, the Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer smashed 98* runs off 47 deliveries and helped the Royals win the match by nine wickets.

Following the completion of the match, Twitter was buzzing with posts appreciating Jaiswal as a lot of former players including Virender Sehwag, Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli among many others shared a special message for him. Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Jay Shah too lauded the cricketer and congratulated him for scripting his name in the history books. Shah stated that the 21-year-old has shown tremendous grit and wished that he continues to play in the same manner in the remaining matches.

“A special knock by young @ybj_19 (Yashasvi Jaiswal) for hitting the fastest IPL fifty. He has shown tremendous grit and passion towards his game. Congratulations on achieving history. May you continue this fine form in future. #TATAIPL2023,” Shah wrote.

RR move to number three in the IPL points table

After two back-to-back defeats in the ongoing season, the Sanju Samson-led side was under tremendous pressure ahead of their match against the Knight Riders. They bowled brilliantly as Yuzvendra Chahal managed to pick up four wickets and went on become the leading wicket-taker in the history of the competition. KKR batters had no idea how to deal with Chahal’s wrath as they could post only 149 runs on the board.

When it came to the chase, Jaiswal and Samson (48* runs off 29 deliveries) decimated KKR bowlers, helping the team win by nine wickets. With that, RR moved to number three in the IPL points table and kept their hopes alive to qualify for the IPL Playoffs.
