Ahead of Australia’s game against Scotland, ace pacer Josh Hazlewood made a controversial statement that got the cricketing world talking. The 33-year-old expressed to surrender against Scotland to eliminate England from the ongoing T20 World Cup but they eventually didn’t do so, winning against them by five wickets.
After Hazlewood’s statement, there were reports of suspending skipper Mitchell Marsh if Australia tried to manipulate the result of the game. Mitchell Starc felt that the story was blown out of proportion and blamed the media for playing a role in it. The 34-year-old pointed out that Australia only think about winning and they won’t be manipulating results in international cricket.
“I think a throwaway line has been blown right out of proportion by you lot,” he said, referring to the media attending his post-match press conference.

“You don’t stuff around with mother cricket and trying to worry about other results. We’re here to win games. It’s international cricket. England now are on the other side of the draw, so it really doesn’t make that much difference for the next three games. So yeah, I think that was blown right out of proportion by you guys,” he added.
Starc shares injury update
Starc left the field early against Oman and later was given a rest in the match against Namibia. He picked up a niggle but against Scotland, the pacer returned to the squad and conceded 31 runs in four overs. Ahead of the Super 8, he looked fit as Starc stated he felt good against Scotland and is ready for the Super 8.
“I had that cramp in the Oman game and it sort of hung around through the England game and so I had a scan, it was all clear and gave it the extra few days with the Namibia game and yeah back in today it was all good to go. So, I was better off doing the first half of the tournament than when it gets busy in the second half,” said Starc.
