A 50-member shortlist for the Team of the Decade of the Women’s Big Bash League from across the 10 seasons has only one Indian, the women’s team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Kaur has been a part of Sydney Thunder Women (2016-19) and Melbourne Renegades Women (2021 and 2023).

The Team of the Decade will recognize the greatest players from all across the 10-year history of the WBBL. The criterion for making the shortlist is that the player should have played a minimum of 60 WBBL matches prior to the ongoing season.

The Big Bash App will be the medium where public voting will occur between November 11 and 24. The original draft of 50 members will be trimmed to 12 members by a selection panel. The final XI will have a maximum of three overseas players in accordance with the league’s guidelines.

The selection panel is being presided over by Cricket Australia Director, Clea Smith. The committee also includes Lisa Sthalekar, Mel Jones, Matthew Mott, Quentin Hull, Laura Jolly, and Alistair Dobson. It is being reported that public voting will be given equal weightage, according to News18, and that the panel will then assess and compare the votes with their own nominees to finalise a 12-player team. This squad will be announced at the final of the 10th edition of the tournament on December 1, 2024.
