Veteran India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik heaped praise on Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf, deeming him as ‘one of the better white-ball bowlers’. It is no secret that the premier pacer has put in the hard yards since he burst onto the scene in 2020, which has in turn garnered him massive limelight courtesy of his stellar performances.
The pacer, who is currently playing his trade for Welsh Fire in ‘The Hundred’, earned massive praise from veteran cricketer Dinesh Karthik. Notably, the pacer racked up three wickets for mere 27 runs in his 20 balls against Southern Brave, following which Dinesh spoke highly of the pacer’s performance and further highlighted his rise to fame with the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
“Few years ago, he (Haris Rauf) was playing tennis ball cricket. Gets picked up by the (Lahore) Qalandars, becomes a part of their team, and academy and then goes on to play the league (Pakistan Super League) and then has obviously gone on to do so well for Pakistan. He is arguably one of the better white ball bowlers going around in world cricket now, especially at the death,” Karthik said on Sky Sports as quoted by India Today.
Haris has been a mainstay in the Pakistan setup and has proven his lethal bowling exploits for the Men in Green on a number of occasions. In 62 T20Is, 22 ODIs and one Test, the premier pacer has claimed 67, 11, and 12 wickets, respectively.
Speaking about the match, Haris’s impressive bowling performance helped Welsh Fire restrict the rival batting unit to a competitive total of 147 runs. However, the Southern Brave came all guns blazing during the chase, sealing a nail-biting win by mere two runs.
Following the defeat, Welsh Fire will look to turn things around in their forthcoming match as they square off against Oval Invincibles at The Oval in London on Sunday, August 6. Haris along with the likes of Shaheen Afridi and David Willey among others will look to continue their fine form with the ball and help their side get back to winning ways.
