Hardik Pandya joins Amit Shah to inaugurate Gandhinagar Premier League

India’s renowned all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, recently made a notable appearance alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the inauguration of the Gandhinagar Premier League. Pandya is currently recovering from an ankle injury that he sustained during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Shah expressed optimism regarding the impact of the tournament on fostering a sports culture within the region. His tweet resonated with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the broader initiative of the ‘Parliamentarian Sports Competition’ aimed at promoting sports at various levels across the nation.

“Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Premier League (GLPL) was launched today in Ahmedabad. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, ‘Parliamentarian Sports Competition’ is being organized across the country, and under this, the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Premier League has started. I am confident that this cricket tournament, played between the 7 constituencies of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha, will prove useful in promoting sports culture and a healthy lifestyle in the area,” tweeted Amit Shah.

Hardik Pandya citing return in IPL 2024

Pandya’s absence from the Indian cricket team has been palpable. However, his return as the captain of the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming IPL 2024 season brings hope and excitement to fans eagerly awaiting his comeback.

In the absence of Pandya from the Indian T20I team, Suryakumar Yadav took over the leadership duties during matches against Australia and South Africa. Yadav’s captaincy and on-field performances garnered attention. However, during the T20I series against South Africa, Yadav sustained an ankle injury, prompting Rohit Sharma to take over as captain for the Afghanistan series. Sharma returned to the T20I setup after a gap of more than a year.
