Kolkata Knight Riders player Venkatesh Iyer had a mixed season in the recently concluded Indian Premier League. Even though he managed to amass 404 runs in 14 matches, consistency has been a major issue. On top of that, the cricketer didn’t bowl a single over, raising speculations regarding his fitness. However, the 28-year-old clarified that he is fit to bowl but the team combination was such that he didn’t get an opportunity.

Meanwhile, the Indore-born cricketer also stated that he would love to replicate what Hardik Pandya is doing at the moment. Notably, under Pandya’s leadership, Gujarat Titans won the championship in 2022 and also qualified for the finals in 2023. He has been terrific with the bat and has also been impactful with the ball. Thus, Venkatesh mentioned that even though he is not hoping to make his India return anytime soon but is desperate to get better.

“Obviously, I want to become ‘Venkatesh, a complete all-rounder’ and I want to contribute for the team in all three departments irrespective of the batting position, be it opening, middle order, lower down the order to finish the games, bowl even in the power play and death overs. You know I want to be a complete all-rounder really like what Hardik Pandya is doing. I do find him as one of the best all-rounders going around in the world and I really want to replicate what he’s doing,” Iyer said while talking to India TV.
