India celebrated its 78th Independence Day, and several stars from the cricket fraternity took to social media to wish their fans on the special day. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Wasim Jaffer, and many more former and current stars were quite active on social media on the special day.

Over the years, there have been many moments on the field that have united the nation, and the stars showcased their patriotism through heartfelt wishes as the country celebrated its independence.

Sachin Tendulkar took centre stage and reflected on how not only athletes are not the ones who play for India, but every citizen who does their job with honesty is a key player for the country.

“Sportspersons aren’t the only ones playing for India. Every Indian who does their job with honesty and sincerity is a key player for Team India. So, when the national anthem plays today, know that it’s for you, and I hope you’ll feel the same way I did when I heard it every time I stepped out to play for India,” Tendulkar tweeted.

Apart from Sachin Tendulkar, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, and commentator Harsha Bhogle were also seen taking to social media on the independence day.

India set to be in action against Bangladesh next

Speaking of team India, after the side’s recent white-ball series against Sri Lanka, the side will have a break and will take on Bangladesh next. Having played their last game on August 7, India will face Bangladesh on September 19.

Both sides will lock horns in a multi-format series, which will kick off with a two-game Test series and conclude with a three-game T20I series. The first T20I is scheduled to be held on October 6, with the last T20I to be held on October 12.
