A sensational batting display from Shubman Gill, followed by an incredible bowling performance from Mohit Sharma, saw Gujarat Titans knock out Mumbai Indians by a massive margin of 62 runs in the Qualifier 2 of Indian Premier League 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The visitors won the toss and opted to bowl first. GT got off to a good start as Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill added 54 runs for the first wicket. Wriddhiman Saha got dismissed by Piyush Chawla in the seventh over.

However, Gill kept the scoreboard ticking, as he along with Sai Sudharsan, added 138 runs for the second wicket. Gill (129 off 60) rose to his third IPL century before getting dismissed by Akash Madhwal. His magnificent knock included seven fours and ten sixes. Cameos from Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan at the end helped GT post a huge total of 233 in 20 overs.

In response, both the MI openers lost their wickets cheaply Inside the powerplay. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma then added 51 runs for the third wicket, before Rashid broke the partnership by sending Tilak back for 43 runs. Suryakumar continued his run and smashed 61 runs off 38 balls, before getting dismissed by Mohit Sharma.

Cameron Green got dismissed for 30 runs as well to add to Mumbai’s woes. As other MI players failed to contribute with the bat and kept giving away wickets at regular intervals, MI lost the match by 62 runs, thus making way for Gujarat to become the first team to play two consecutive IPL Finals in the first two seasons of their existence.
