After the Gujarat Titans retained their top-order batters, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, on the Deadline Day on October 31, along with Rashid Khan, who was retained at a whopping INR 18 crore, it was expected that they would want to bring in firepower in both batting and bowling.

This is exactly what the title-winners in their inaugural edition (2022) did at the mega auction for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. With the Rajasthan Royals letting go of Jos Buttler, the Titans pounced onto him for INR 15.75 crore. Anuj Rawat and the young Kumar Kushagra were also roped into the setup to provide enough padding.

Along with Rashid and Rahul Tewatia, who were already retained by the franchise, another solid allrounder in the form of Washington Sundar was acquired. Uncapped Nishant Sindhu, who racked up a scintillating ton at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy a short while back, was also brought in. Mahipal Lomror, who has previously been a part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and RR, was also roped in by the franchise.

GT beefed up their pace-bowling lineup with the most high-profile names. Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Gerald Coetzee were the international superstars which were procured at the spectacle. The 22-year-old left-arm off-spinner, Manav Suthar, who has recently shone in the domestic arena, was bagged as well.

Prasidh Krishna, who missed IPL 2023 due to a stress fracture and had his best IPL season in 2024, will be aiming to continue the momentum. Glenn Phillips, who was not get picked in the regular round, was one of the steals of the evening. He was purchased for a paltry INR 2 crore value in the accelerated round.
