Prithvi Shaw has been out of Indian team setup for a quite a while now. He last played for India in the T20I against Sri Lanka in July 2021. He continued to represent Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, but the player went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction after being released by the franchise. Moreover, Shaw is having a tough time scoring runs in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 for his home team Mumbai.

Shaw’s major setback was the a slump in his form and fitness which came under scanner. The right-handed batter, who rose to echelons due to his impeccable performance in the Indian domestic circuit, is in search of a resurgence. Former England cricketer, Kevin Pietersen has backed the youngster to come good, focus on his fitness and script a “comeback story”.

“Some of the greatest sports stories are COMEBACK stories. If Prithvi Shaw has decent people around him who care about his long term success, they’d sit him down, tell him to get off social media & train his absolute backside off in getting super fit. It’ll get him back into the correct path where past success can return. Too talented to throw it all away. Love, KP!,” Pietersen tweeted.
