Veteran cricket coach Grant Bradburn has bid adieu to his role as the high-performance coach of Pakistan men’s team. Bradburn, who had taken the role of head coach last May, confirmed his decision on social media after performing his duties in multiple roles with the team.

He expressed pride in the three roles he held over five years and gratitude for working with numerous outstanding players and coaches during his term.

“Time to close the amazing chapter that has been Pakistan cricket. Three roles over five years, I am proud of what’s been achieved and grateful to have worked with so many outstanding players, coaches and staff,” Bradburn wrote on ‘X’.

The 57-year-old had a notable stint coaching the Pakistan team during the 2023 World Cup. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reshuffled the coaching staff in November 2023, leading to a change in Bradburn’s position.

“All coaches will continue to work in National Cricket Academy while PCB will announce the new coaching staff in due course for the upcoming series in Australia and New Zealand,” clarified the PCB in an official statement.

Later, the PCB named former cricketer Mohammad Hafeez as the coach. Pakistan lost the recent Test series to Australia 0-3 and will undertake their five-match T20I assignment in New Zealand from January 12.

Meanwhile, Bradburn also expressed his well wishes for the future of Pakistan cricket. “Wishing the teams, staff, and everyone at Pakistan Cricket continued success and growth.”

Bradburn, who represented Northern Districts in the 80s and 90s apart and played seven Tests and 11 ODIs for New Zealand, is set to embrace a new chapter in his coaching career as he is on the verge of taking over as the coach for Glamorgan in the UK, with an official announcement expected soon.

The move marks his exit from the international coaching scene, leaving behind a legacy shaped by his dedication to the sport.
