The Indian team comprehensively beat the Prime Minister’s XI in a rain-affected two-day game to win the warm-up fixture at Manuka Oval in Canberra. The match was a preparation for the upcoming Pink-Ball Test in Adelaide from December 6.
Skipper Rohit Sharma expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance ahead of the second Test AS The warm-up match provided several good signs for the Indian team. The Pink-Ball Test will be an interesting opportunity for the team to show its depth and strong preparation.
“It was fantastic. We got what we wanted as a group. Little unlucky we could not get the whole game. Whatever time we got, we tried to make the most of it and we got whatever (out of what) we had in front of us. Absolutely fantastic (to see the crowd). We love to come to Australia and we love to see them come out and support us. Never been a time when they have come here and not turned up. Really nice to see people coming in and supporting us,” Rohit said.

It was a good experience: Sam Konstas
The day began with India winning the toss and bowling first. Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep struck early, reducing the home side to 22/2. However, Sam Konstas was a bright spot, scoring a brilliant century that kept his team’s hopes alive.
The turning point came during Harshit Rana’s exceptional bowling spell. The young pacer rattled the middle order, claiming four wickets in just six balls and single-handedly turning the momentum in India.’s favour. Despite Konstas’ 107 and Hanno Jacobs’ solid 61, the Prime Minister’s XI were eventually bowled out for 240.
In the chase, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched a solid 75-run opening partnership, with Jaiswal scoring 45 before falling to Charlie Anderson. Captain Rohit Sharma, who decided to bat lower in the order, scored just three runs.
Gill, returning from an injury, looked particularly impressive, scoring a fifty before retiring out. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar also made significant contributions, with both scoring 42 and helping India complete a comfortable six-wicket win.
Meanwhile, Konstas was awarded the Player of the Match and he expressed about the opportunity to play against the mighty Indians and the support from the crowd. “It was a good experience. Thanks to the supporters for coming,” he explained.
Prime Minister’s XI skipper Jack Edwards spoke about Scott Boland’s spell and the honour of playing against a team like India which includes some big names in world cricket.
“He played exceptionally. Good for Scotty, he bowled some overs. Very nice honour. Some big players have represented this team and it has been a nice, few days for the team,” Edwards said.
