England stand-in skipper Harry Brook smashed a cracking century in the third ODI against Australia to pick up a 46-run win (DLS Method). Chasing 305 runs, the hosts were reduced to 11/2 at Chester-le-Street and that’s when Brook and Will Jacks built a formidable partnership to help Three Lions get over the line.
Before the third ODI, Brook made a controversial comment which went viral in England. His ‘if you get caught somewhere on the boundary or in the field then who cares?’ comment was criticized as the pundits questioned his desire to represent the national team. Explaining that, Brook mentioned that his comments were taken in a different context and he only wanted to play fearlessly and not think much about other things.

“People took that a little bit the wrong way. You have got to go out and play fearlessly and almost have that who cares attitude. That is not who cares if we lose. We still want to win but you don’t want to go out there and have a fear of getting out. We have seen so many times in the Test environment, the way people are getting out,” Brook said. You have got to have that fearless attitude and take it to the bowlers,” Brook explained as quoted by BBC after the third ODI.
I feel I am back in a good place: Brook
Brook was subjected to immense criticism for poor showing in the entire summer. He was getting good starts but was unable to convert them. Addressing them, the 25-year-old stated he has started playing the ball late and is keeping his head straight to score runs.
“I feel I have been stop-start this summer, a lot of 30 and 40s, not managing to convert. I feel I am back in a good place, playing the ball late and with my head still,” he said.
