After a long wait, India cricketer Sarfaraz Khan finally made his Test debut during Day 1 of the third India vs England Test at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. The 26-year-old announced his arrival in international cricket in style scoring the joint second-fastest half-century by an India batter on debut in just 48 balls. The Mumbai-born batter couldn’t take his innings beyond 62 (66) as he got involved in an unfortunate run out with Ravindra Jadeja.
However, the day was a memorable one for Sarfaraz and his entire family as his father Naushad Khan and wife Romana Zahoor were cheering him from the stands during his entire innings. Notably, Sarfaraz got married to Romana on August 06 2023 in Jammu and Kashmir and was delighted to embark on a new chapter of his life in the valley.

Romana hails from the Shopian district in Kashmir and is reportedly a BSc student. She’s also a friend of Sarfaraz’s cousin and the duo reportedly met for the first time after she accompanied Sarfaraz’s cousin to watch a match where he was playing.

The duo immediately struck a cord with each other and Romana’s came forward with a marriage proposal to Sarfaraz’s family. Both families mutually agreed and the couple tied the knot with their blessings.
Notably, Romana was seen in tears as Sarfaraz was presented his debut cap by legendary India wrist spinner Anil Kumble and her tears were wiped off by her husband.

His father also couldn’t hold back his emotions and was consoled by his son who showed him the cap. In a heartfelt gesture, Sarfaraz’s father Naushad kissed his son’s India cap and wished him luck for his debut. After the end of the day’s play, Sarfaraz also got a surprise video call from his brother Musheer Khan who recently played for India in the Under-19 World Cup 2024.

Musheer praised his brother’s debut knock and revealed that he even had his heart in his mouth when he top-edged a sweep shot over short fine leg. Meanwhile, having missed out on the opportunity to score a century in the first innings, Sarfaraz will be eager to reach the landmark if he gets an opportunity to bat in the second innings.
