The Pakistan ODI Tri-Series will be coming to an end with the finals between Pakistan and New Zealand starting this afternoon. There was some great cricket and drama that was witnessed during this series so far especially in the last game between the Men in Green and the Proteas who were involved in a high-scoring game that decided on which team will make it to the finals going forward.

One of the dramatic moments featured Pakistan star left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi and South Africa’s young batter Matthew Breetzke who were involved in an altercation during the first innings of the match. Afridi due to an unnecessary physical altercation was also fined 25% of his match fee as well breaching the ICC code of conduct for players and player support personnel. The 24-year-old pacer also opened up on the altercation and the heated argument he had with the South African batter saying that they shook hands at the end of the match.

“For the first time, Matthew didn’t say anything. I kept teasing him to get a wicket. Whatever happened on the field stayed there. Matthew and I met, shook hands, and became good friends,” said Shaheen during an interview with Geo News.

Pakistan’s death bowling woes 

There is no doubt that in the end Pakistan won the game against South Africa while chasing a huge total of 353 and fixed a place in the finals of the Tri-Series but their death bowling has been a huge issue in the last few games which has led to their batters having to chase big scores in the end. The last game saw their bowlers give away 110 runs in the last 10 overs where the likes of Heinrich Klaasen and Kyle Verreynne took the bowlers apart. Afridi also agreed with the fact that the team has leaked runs in the last overs.

“We admit that we haven’t been performing well in the final overs,” Shaheen said on Pakistan’s performance with the ball in death overs.
