The Rohit Sharma-led side recently lost a three-game ODI series to Sri Lanka. Both sides locked horns in a three-game T20I series and ODI series. The Men in Blue managed to sweep Sri Lanka in the T20I series 0-3 but failed to do so in the 50-over matches.
The first ODI resulted in a tie, with Sri Lanka defeating India in the second and third ODIs. India struggled to chase down sub-250 targets in all three ODI matches that they played against Sri Lanka.
Seeing the side’s performance, former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed came forward and lambasted the Indian team for their performance in the ODIs against Sri Lanka. He opined that Pakistan would easily defeat the side without the trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah.
“First look into your own performances and then have suggestions on Pakistan. If Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah do not play against Pakistan, Pakistan will beat India hands down,” Tanvir said, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
“You see what happens to the Indian batting lineup from here on in the future. The bowling lineup might work it out but the batting lineup will find it difficult. All the new batters in this Indian team at the moment, barring Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, they cannot carry forward this batting lineup in the future,” he added.
They might score runs in their home conditions on flat pitches: Ahmed
Furthermore, Tanvir Ahmed went on to state that team India can only score runs on flat pitches at home, he opined that as soon as the ball starts to turn and swing, the Indian batters find themselves in trouble.
“They might score runs in their home conditions on flat pitches but on pitches where the ball turns seams and swings this batting lineup of India does not have the life to bat in those conditions. They could have scored runs in the first match, that ended in a tie, and could have scored runs in the second and third ODI as well,” said Tanvir Ahmed.
